It is almost that time of the year. Without a doubt, Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love Christmas tree lights and the peacefulness that they bring to me and my family. Decorating your house is a great way to bring in the “Christmas spirit!” It is a fun way to bring the family together for a couple of hours to help hang up the ornaments and lights. This year I decided to do something different with my strands of lights. I decided to add some ribbon.
It did take more time to do this, but I think it made my tree look a lot better this year. It is super easy to add, but it is time consuming. Expect to spend around 2-3 hours adding the ribbon (depending on the size of your tree). My tree is a 7 foot, artificial tree and it took me around 2 hours. I did a total four strands of lights for my tree and I did 4 different colors of ribbon: silver, glittery silver, red, and burlap.
Here are the steps on how to make your tree twinkle with your favorite lights and ribbon color of choice.
Step 1: First, pick out the colors of ribbon you are wanting to use. I recommend at least three colors.
Step 2: Secondly, cut each piece of ribbon about six inches long. (It honestly doesn’t make a difference if one piece is longer or shorter than the other. I am not perfect and I know mine aren’t all the same length and you cannot tell).
Step 3: Next, cut each six inch long piece of ribbon in half.
Step 4: Tie each ribbon onto the strand of lights. I did a pattern with my colors and I tied one ribbon between each lightbulb on the strand. (Do this however you want to do it).
Step 5: Finally, start from the bottom of the tree and strand the lights onto your tree in a circular motion and continue to go up higher on the tree.
**When the strand runs out, connect the next strand of light to it and I wrap it around one brand to hide the plug.
