Taco night is one of our favorite dinners that we have and fresh salsa makes it even better. We eat it at least three times a month. It is super easy to make and tasty. I don’t really like to buy jarred salsa. I personally don’t think it tastes all that great. To me it defiantly doesn’t taste fresh. When I make tacos I want to taste all the fresh ingredients. My recipe is only 3 simple steps: Wash, Chop, Blend. It really is that simple.
Ingredients needed:
- 2 cans (14.5 oz) of Diced tomatoes with Green Peppers and Onions
- 2 Cans (10 oz) of Diced tomatoes with Green Chilies Mild
- 1 large jalapenos
- 1/2 large white onion (I used a sweet onion)
- 1 Bundle of fresh cilantro
- 1 teaspoon of garlic (I used minced)
- Salt (to taste)
*You can always double the recipe if you and your family would like more salsa or leftovers. I tend to only keep mine for taco night and a couple days after.
Three Simple Steps To Make Homemade Salsa
- Wash all of your fresh ingredients & open your cans and drain.
- Chop up all your fresh ingredients & place into your blender with your cans of tomatoes.
- Blend all the ingredients together.
It really is that simple. I prefer to make my salsa in the morning of taco night so then it can go into the refrigerator and get cold. No one wants to eat room temperature salsa anyways. It also allows the ingredients to come together and bring out all the flavor. Just like you want to let your meat marinade before you put it on the grill, you also want to let all your ingredients marinade together as well.
Also, if you want your salsa more spicy add another jalapenos to it. My kids are younger and don’t really like it hot, they like theirs a more mild/medium. Go to guacamole for an awesome recipe to go with your tacos as well!!!
